A milking claw having: &bull a plurality of milk inlets &bull a milk collection chamber &bull a milk outlet &bull an air inlet and &bull a conduit the claw formed so that when in use, connected to milking teat cups: &bull milk can enter the chamber via the milk inlets and &bull milk can leave the chamber via the milk outlet the conduit being connected or connectable to the air inlet so that when in use the conduit can receive air remote from an unsanitary area immediately around the air inlet and deliver it to the chamber.
