At the same time, if the distance between the wheelchair and the obstacle is detected to be a predetermined value, the wheelchair unfolds a raised lift mechanism (first to third wheel units), bends the first wheel unit to be placed above the obstacle (protruding bump), then advances gradually, and raises the lift mechanism in the order of the first wheel unit, the second wheel unit, and the third wheel unit, thereby allowing the user to climb over the obstacle himself or herself without the aid of another individual.
