D-psicose according to the present invention exhibits the effect of suppressing the formation of body fat by inhibiting lipid absorption in the small intestine and significantly increasing the lipid content in feces and normalizes weight, fat mass, and plasma lipid profile by decreasing weight, fat mass, and plasma lipid concentration to normal levels. Accordingly, D-psicose according to the present invention is expected to be usable as a medicinal product, health functional food, and functional food useful for the prevention or treatment of lipid-related metabolic disorders.
