PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system in which the heat generation state of a gradient magnetic field coil of the MRI system is foreseen to prevent a failure caused by the heat generation.
SOLUTION: The MRI system includes a gradient magnetic field coil forming a gradient magnetic field on the basis of a gradient magnetic field-generating current waveform corresponding to a protocol and picks up the image of a subject. In the MRI system, a heat quantity estimated to be generated from the gradient magnetic field coil is calculated based on a plurality of input protocols. When the estimated heat quantity is greater than the threshold value of a tolerance heat quantity in the gradient magnetic field coil, the execution order of the plurality of protocols can be changed.
