A system, and method for using magnetic resonance imaging to increase the accuracy of electro-physiologic procedures is disclosed. The system in its preferred embodiment provides an invasive combined electro-physiologic, an imaging antenna catheter (1) which includes an RF antenna (3) for receiving MR signals, and diagnostic electrodes (11) for receiving electric potentials. The combined electrophysiology, and imaging antenna catheter (1) is used in combination with an MR imaging scanner to guide, to provide visualization during electro-physiologic diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
