The present invention provides an apparatus for storing and delivering a therapeutic gas provided by a gas source, the apparatus comprising a gas storage chamber in gaseous communication with a gas inlet and a gas outlet, wherein the apparatus is configured such that where a gas source provides a gas volume in excess of that required by a subject, gas from the gas source flows through the gas input so as to be stored in the gas storage chamber until such a time that the gas source provides a gas volume less than that required by the subject at which time a gas flows from the gas storage chamber through the gas outlet to a subject. In the apparatus, the gas input may be in gaseous connection with a non-return valve configured to prevent the flow of gas from the gas storage chamber toward a source, and the gas output may be in gaseous connection with a gas regulator, wherein the apparatus may be configured such that where a gas source provides a gas volume in excess of that passed by the regulator, gas from the gas source flows through the gas input, through the one-way valve, and at least a proportion of the gas flowing from the gas source flows to the gas storage chamber. The present apparatus may be used for the delivery of a therapeutic gas to a patient in need thereof.
