The present invention provides an antibacterial nano silver particle/clay compound and a manufacturing method thereof, which comprises mainly metal particles and flake-like inorganic clay, wherein the flake-like inorganic clay has a length to diameter ratio of 10-100,000 and serves as a carrier for the metal particles to realize nano-grade dispersion of the metal particles. The antibacterial nano metal particle/inorganic clay compound has a dimension of 5-100 nm. The present invention also provides a manufacturing method for the antibacterial nano silver particle/clay compound, which can be obtained by mixing a metal ion compound, flake-like inorganic clay and a reducing agent in water to undergo reduction reaction. The inorganic clay serves as a dispersing agent or a protecting agent for the metal to allow the metal to realize nano-grade dispersion.
