Provided is a covered wire-shaped light-emitting body which solves a problem, with respect to light-emitting capabilities, where striated irregularities arises on a light-emitting surface due to the contact with a mold during extrusion forming, and also allows a smooth light-emitting surface to be protected from damage until actual use, and furthermore allows a temporary cover layer to be ruptured and peeled easily so as to improve ease-of-use. The covered wire-shaped light emitting body is configured by unifying through co-extrusion forming a core layer (1) comprising a transparent thermoplastic resin, and a cover layer (2) comprising a thermoplastic resin covering the entire peripheral surface of this core layer (1), while using, for the cover layer, (2) a non-adhesive resin material that is immiscible in the resin material of the core layer (1), and further forming one or a plurality of rupture grooves (21) along the length direction in a portion of the peripheral surface of the cover layer (2).
