The invention relates to the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and to medicine,in particular to medicinal agents based on the mixture of natural isoprenol (Roprene)oligomers inhibiting monoaminooxidase activity and to a method for treatingpatients suffering from diseases caused by the monoaminooxidase excessiveactivity. The aim of the invention is to develop a novel medicinal agent producinga minimum side effect, which is an immediate problem in treating the above-mentioneddiseases. The inventive medicinal agent, which is used for treating the patientssuffering from diseases caused by the monoaminooxidase excessive activityand is produced in the form of polyprenols of formula (1), wherein n=8-20 and thepolyprenol content ranging from 0.1 to 80%, and the inventive method for treatingpatients suffering from diseases caused by the monoaminooxidase excessiveactivity, consisting in administering to the patients from 1 to 150 mg of polyprenolsof formula (1) in the form of one or more doses a day or in the form of a separate preparationor a pharmaceutical composition additionally containing auxiliary ingredients,are disclosed.
