The present invention relates to a composition for preventing, alleviating or treating dermatitis, which comprises oils or hydrosol derived from plants as effective components. More specifically, in a normal human epidermal keratinocytes (NHEKs) inflammation model in which inflammation is induced by UVB, lavender oil, rosemary oil, peppermint oil, citron seed oil, lavender hydrosol, lemongrass hydrosol, or peppermint hydrosol has the effects of suppressing mRNA expression of inflammatory factors, COX-2 and MMP-9； inhibiting protein expression of COX-2, MMP-2 and iNOS； and reducing mRNA expression of inflammatory cytokines, TNF-&alpha； and IL-6, and protein expression of TNF-&alpha；, IL-1&beta； and IL-6.
