The invention provides a teat treatment device, as well as an automatic milking device, a method and a teat cup therefor. It is an object of the invention to clean or otherwise treat a teat by repeatedly placing a teat cup (1) on the teat (12) and removing it therefrom again, wherein the upper side thereof, in particular segments (4) with projections (6) on the inner side, around the teat-receiving opening (5) scrub the teat (12) clean under frictional contact. Nozzles (8) which can spray a jet (10) of liquid on, in particular, the projections (6) in the inactive position, can assist this treatment.
