The trough conveyor is located in the lateral opening in an effective range of a microwave generated in the microwave measurement field (39). The rod-shaped articles are pressurized with the microwave measuring field in transverse direction to the longitudinal axis. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) filter tipping machine in tobacco processing industry; and (2) method for checking rod-shaped articles in tobacco-processing industry for determining liquid content of capsules in filters of filter cigarettes.
