PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly and clearly determine a lesion tissue where cancer cells or the like exist by use of a clear fluorescence image with fluorescence to be emitted from fluorescence chemical agents while restricting effects of self-florescence.
SOLUTION: A fluorescence endoscope system 1 includes an excitation light source 4 to alternately emit first excitation light to excite fluorescence chemical agent introduced to the living body tissue A and self-fluorescence substances originated from the living body and second excitation light to mainly excite the self-fluorescence substances excited by the first excitation light, an imaging part 10 to image fluorescence of a predetermined wavelength range out of fluorescence respectively emitted from the living body tissue as the first excitation light and the second excitation light from the excitation light source 4 are radiated, and an image correction part 19 to correct a chemical agent florescence image obtained by the imaging part 10 as the first excitation light is radiated based on the self-florescence light image obtained by the imaging part when the second excitation light is radiated.
