A reduced thickness portion (50) is formed in an upper rear portion of the reel body (2a), where the rod attachment leg (2b) connects the reel body (2a).The reduced thickness portion (50) has a peripheral rim portion (52) and a recessed portion (53) that is further recessed from the peripheral rim portion (52). The cover member (70) is mounted to cover the rear lower portion of the reel body (2a) in order to cover at least the peripheral rim portion (52) of the reduced thickness portion (50).
