A method of generating a three-dimensional digital model of a dental arch of a patient, said method comprising the steps of: A) projecting at least one light beam (30) onto the arch, so as to draw at least a luminous mark on the arcade； B) simultaneously with step A), moving the arcade through the beam and acquiring, during said movement, a series of updated images of said arcade each showing a projection update defined by the projected mark； C) identification of said updated projection on each updated image, then search for a three-dimensional numerical model, called "updated model", having a maximum agreement with the set of updated projections.Procédé de génération d'un modèle numérique tridimensionnel d'une arcade dentaire d'un patient, ledit procédé comportant les étapes suivantes :A) projection d'au moins un faisceau lumineux (30) sur l'arcade, de manière à dessiner au moins une marque lumineuse sur l'arcade ；B) simultanément à l'étape A), déplacement de l'arcade à travers le faisceau et acquisition, pendant ledit déplacement, d'une série d'images actualisées de ladite arcade faisant chacune apparaître une projection actualisée définie par la marque projetée ；C) identification de ladite projection actualisée sur chaque image actualisée, puis recherche d'un modèle numérique tridimensionnel, dit « modèle actualisé », présentant une concordance maximale avec l'ensemble des projections actualisées.
