The present invention relates to a beamformer and a beamforming method based on post phase rotation, and more specifically, to a beamformer and a beamforming method based on post phase rotation. The beamformer includes: by each channel, a sampling unit sampling a signal reflected from an image point and received in a converter into a digital signal; a mixer unit separating an in-phase component and a quadrature component from the sampled digital signal; a low pass filter unit filtering the in-phase component signal and the quadrature component signal which are separated; a sampling delay compensating unit compensating a coarse delay time with respect to the in-phase component signal and the quadrature component signal; a decimation unit reducing the amounts of data on the in-phase component signal and the quadrature component signal in which the coarse delay time is compensated; a demultiplexer unit receiving the decimated in-phase component signal and quadrature component signal, selecting a certain phase rotator among a plurality of phase rotators having different fine delay time compensation values with respect to the received in-phase component signal and quadrature component signal, and outputting the decimated in-phase component signal and quadrature component signal to the selected phase rotator. The beamformer further includes a phase rotator unit including the plurality of phase rotators summing the output signal of the demultiplexer unit by each channel which requires the same fine delay time compensation, and then performing phase rotation.
