PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic image diagnostic apparatus capable of achieving various kinds of operations in the apparatus by using an ultrasonic probe as an input device.SOLUTION: A detecting section 221 is disposed on a probe 2 and detects at least either the position of the probe 2 or the inclined angle as position information. A mode switching button 223 is a button which is disposed on the probe 2 and enables a user to perform input operation to switch between an ultrasonic wave transmission/reception mode for transmitting/receiving ultrasonic waves and a probe input mode for using the probe 2 as an input device. A storage section 5 stores the final image at the time point when an instruction of switching a mode from the ultrasonic wave transmission/reception mode to the probe input mode is input, and position information corresponding to the time point, as reference position information.
