Disclosed are methods and compositions for altering the color of hair, comprising treating the hair with a pre-alkalizing composition and then treating the hair with a color-altering composition comprising at least one first oxidizing agent chosen from hydrogen peroxide and bromates, and further optionally comprising at least one fatty substance and/or thickening agents, and/or at least one second oxidizing agent chosen from persulfates, perborates, percarbonates, peracids, their salts and mixtures thereof. Also disclosed are methods and compositions for treating the hair with a pre-alkalizing composition and then treating the hair with a color-altering composition comprising at least one first oxidizing agent chosen from hydrogen peroxide and bromates, at least one oxidative dye, and optionally at least one direct dye.Linvention concerne des méthodes et des compositions pouvant modifier la couleur des cheveux. Le procédé consiste à traiter les cheveux avec une composition pré-alcalinisante, puis à traiter les cheveux avec une composition de modification de la couleur comprenant, dune part au moins un premier agent oxydant choisi parmi le peroxyde dhydrogène et les bromates, dautre part éventuellement au moins un corps gras et/ou des agents épaississants, et/ou au moins un second agent oxydant choisi parmi les persulfates, les perborates, les percarbonates, les peracides, leurs sels et leurs mélanges. Linvention concerne également des méthodes et des compositions permettant de traiter les cheveux avec une composition pré-alcalinisante, puis de traiter les cheveux avec une composition de modification de la couleur comprenant au moins un premier agent oxydant choisi parmi le peroxyde dhydrogène et les bromates, au moins un colorant oxydant et éventuellement au moins un colorant direct.
