In one embodiment, a substance dispensing device is coupled to a mouthpiece having a recess sized and shaped to fit with a user's dentition of interest, and coupled to the mouthpiece such that the dentition of the user of interest is recessed. A sensing element configured to determine whether it is positioned within the actuator and an actuator coupled to the mouthpiece and in communication with the sensing element, the actuator positioning the dentition of a target user within the recess.
