For the first time, we demonstrate activation of the Hedgehog (HH) signaling pathway in normal and abnormal human mast cells (MC). These results prompt us to explore the consequences of inhibition of the Hedgehog pathway, in particular the classical pathway, on mast cell proliferation. The inventors demonstrate that hedgehog inhibitors inhibit mast cell proliferation and induce mast cell apoptosis.
