The embolization microcoils can be formed into a complex shape for use in treating aneurysms and other vascular diseases. The fine coil is characterized by a distal portion including a plurality of loops that together comprise a substantially spherical shape and a elongate proximal portion deployable within the distal portion. The distal portion can create a stable frame with an appropriate loop coverage across the neck of the aneurysm. The proximal portion may include a series of substantially omega-shaped loops that may be applied to the interior of the distal portion of the substantially spherical shape to expand it to oppose additional portions of the aneurysm wall.
