[Class 61 (ii)] [Also in Group XIV] Tools of the scissor-action type comprise blades 16, 17 pivoted at 21 and having extensions 18, 19, and U-shaped handles 1, 2 having extensions 3, 4, each in the form of spaced plates 5, 6 and 7, 8 respectively, the extensions 3, 4 being crossed by inserting one of the plates of each extension between the plates of the other extension, a pivot pin 14 passing through both extensions, and the extensions 18, 19 and 3, 4 being connected at 20 and forming toggle-like levers to increase the cutting effect of the blades. The extensions 3, 4 may be attached to the handles 1, 2 by pinching together the lower ends of each pair of plates, inserting the ends in the U-shaped channels of the handles, pinching each handle to grip the extension and riveting at 11, 12; packing pieces 13 forming stops for the handles may also be used, or the extensions may be integral with the handles. One of the blade extensions .18, 19 may be offset as at 22 to bring the extensions into one plane; the handle extensions are slightly offset as at 15.
