The present invention relates to a heater and a method for operating the same. The heater comprises: an accommodation unit formed to accommodate a human body and heat transfer media which transfer heat to the human body in the inner side and an elevation unit which is disposed on the lower surface of the inner space of the accommodation unit, and in which the height of one part is adjusted with respect to the lower surface of the inner space of the accommodation unit.
