PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent antimicrobial agent and a cosmetic material which is blended with the antimicrobial agent and has excellent functions.SOLUTION: Ascorbic acid derivatives obtained by reacting a hydroxy group at the 2- and/or 3-position of ascorbic acid with glycidol, alkyl glycidyl ether, alkenyl glycidyl ether, phenyl glycidyl ether, epoxyalkane, epoxyalkene, etc. to etherify and their salts are provided as antimicrobial agents and anti-acne agents.
