In accordance with the invention, a stent (10) comprises radially expandable ring elements (12), which are axially aligned along a central axis (A) of the stent, and longitudinally deformable bridges (114), which axially interconnect two neighbouring ring elements at circumferentially spaced points and confer bendability to the stent. The ring elements include straight longitudinal struts (116), which are parallel to the central axis of the stent and which directly interconnect the longitudinally deformable bridges arranged on both sides of a ring element.
