The present invention relates to a hydrophobic medium droplet, a peripheral layer of non-polymerizable amphiphilic molecules around the surface of the droplet, and inside the peripheral layer, (a) an aqueous medium and (b) a surface of the aqueous medium. Provided is a microdroplet inclusion comprising a microdroplet comprising an outer layer of non-polymerizable amphiphilic molecules around. The present invention also provides a method for producing a microdroplet inclusion. The use of various microdroplet inclusions is also described, such as use as a drug delivery vehicle in synthetic biology and membrane protein research.
