APPLICANT: SREE BALAJI MEDICAL COLLEGE & HOSPITAL, BIHER- ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a selective and efficient anticancer compound that significantly induce cytotoxicity to cancer cells in a cell-specific manner with minimum side effect. The anti-cancerous compound of the present invention comprises of egg albumin doped Zinc oxide nanoparticles. The nanoparticle of the present invention is spherical in shape, and has hexagonal wurtzite structure with particle size of 20 to 102 nm. The anticancer compound upon screening against human breast cancer cell line (MCF-7), initiates the cancer cell death by decreasing cell proliferation, increasing intracellular ROS via p53, bcl-2 and casapase pathways, and apoptosis. Thus the compound produces significant cytotoxicity to MCF-7 cells in a dose-dependent manner in the concentration range of 50-250 µg/ml.
