PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoacoustic imaging apparatus capable of discriminating the presence of a detection object or a tissue of the detection object accurately even if an LED light source part is used.SOLUTION: A photoacoustic imaging apparatus 100 comprises a first LED light source part 3 (4) including a first LED element 30 (40), and a detection part 5. An optical spectrum property has a light intensity peak in a first wave length, which appears when a first current value I1 is supplied to the first LED element 30 (40), and a light intensity peak in a second wave length, which appears when a second current value I2 greater than the first current value I1 is supplied to the first LED element 30 (40).
