The present invention provides a composition and method for treating solid tumors in a mammalian subject. The composition comprising halobacterial extracts containing antioxidants, comprising: (a) at least one water soluble fraction and, (b) at least one oil soluble fraction,wherein the halobacterial extract is adapted for therapeutic treatment of solid tumor reduction. Furthermore, the composition comprising halobacterial extract adapted to promote solid tumor reduction in radiation treatment in vitro and in vivo.
