PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a greening structure favorably applicable to greening of wall surfaces or slopes of a building structure or a road structure. SOLUTION: The greening structure is so designed as to minimize uneven distribution of water content caused by gravitation to be kept within separated water-retention materials through providing the mat-shaped water-retention materials at the back surface of a Bryophyta plant-holding body when greening a vertical surface or inclined surface to separate the water-retention materials into a plurality of pieces so as to come between them. By this mechanism, water content can be uniformly kept in the whole of the greening structure for a long period of time and continuously supplied to Bryophyta plants so as to promote germination and growth of the plants, and favorably exert the function of greening materials such as relief of heat island phenomenon without causing apparent death of the Bryophyta plants.
