The present invention relates to the use of choline butyrate in food and in particular in the treatment of intestinal diseases and in the stimulation of brain development. Furthermore, the invention provides a food supplement and a pharmaceutical composition comprising choline butyrate in salt form. The invention also relates to a fodder comprising choline butyrate or the said nutritional supplement.De huidige uitvinding betreft het gebruik van choline butyraat in voeding en in het bijzonder in de behandeling van darmaandoeningen en in de stimulatie van de hersenontwikkeling. Verder voorziet de uitvinding in een voedingssupplement en een farmaceutische samenstelling omvattende choline butyraat in zout vorm. De uitvinding betreft ook een veevoeder omvattende choline butyraat of het genoemd voedingssupplement.
