PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning reel for fishing capable of making foreign materials such as water hardly enter the interior of a gear box and sufficiently ensuring a strength of the front end of a reel body.SOLUTION: The spinning reel (1) for fishing is equipped with the reel body (2) having a cylindrical part (10) projecting from a front wall (8) located at the front end of the gear box (7), a rotary shaft cylinder (19) supported through a bearing (20) on the cylindrical part (10) and passing through the cylindrical part (10), a rotor (26) integrally rotating with the rotary shaft cylinder (19), a reverse rotation stopper (41) installed in the rotary shaft cylinder (19) and rotating following to the rotor (26) on the inside of the cylindrical part (10) and an engaging member (42) engaging with the reverse rotation stopper (41) and thereby limiting the reverse rotation of the rotor (26). The engaging member (42) is supported by the cylindrical part (10) so as to be movable in the direction to intersect the rotary shaft cylinder (19) between an engaging position for engaging with the reverse rotation stopper (41) and an engagement-releasing position for disengaging from the reverse rotation stopper (41).
