Disclosed is an air conditioner for vehicle purifying air flowed into the inner portion of an air conditioner case, sterilizing and deodorizing an evaporator, optimizing an installation position of an optical catalyst module, and facilitating the attaching and detaching of the optical catalyst module for maintenance and repair. The air conditioner for vehicle comprises: the air conditioner case in which an air inlet is formed in an inlet side, an air exhaust hole is formed in an outlet side, and an air passage is formed therein the evaporator installed on the air passage of the air conditioner case and a ventilation device to ventilate the air to the inner portion of the air conditioner case. The optical catalyst module is mounted in the internal side of the air conditioner case and includes: a catalyst unit which generates the radical by generating an optical catalytic reaction by the irradiated light and an optical source unit which is disposed in the upstream or downstream side of the catalyst unit in an air flow direction to irradiates the ultraviolet ray (UV) light in the catalyst unit, wherein the optical source unit consists of a first optical source section arranged in the upstream of the catalyst unit in the direction of the air flow and a second optical source section arranged in the downstream side of the catalyst unit. Therefore, the sterilization efficiency becomes maximized through the sterilization configuration of the optical source unit and the optical catalyst module is nearly semi-permanently usable by selection of a kind of a carrier and control of the optical source unit. The air conditioner for vehicle can purify the air flowed into the inner portion of an air conditioner case, and sterilize and deodorize the evaporator.
