PURPOSE: A composition containing salicin and glucosidase for skin whitening is provided to ensure high whitening effect and to minimize side effect due to formulation instability and skin irritation.CONSTITUTION: A cosmetic composition for skin whitening contains salicin and glucosidase as an active ingredient. The content of salicin is 0.01-10.0 wt% based on the total composition. The content of glucosidase is 75-150 units based on 3 wt% of salicin. Beta-salicin is natural salicin or synthetic salicin. The natural salicin is prepared by extracting Salix koreensis andersson bark.
