PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image processing apparatus and method capable of further efficiently supporting diagnosis and treatment of the cardiac disease relating to cardiac valves, and preoperative planning thereof.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus according to one embodiment, includes a storage part, an identification part, a generation part, and a display control part. The storage part stores three-dimensional image data relating to the heart. On the basis of the three-dimensional image data, the identification part identifies, for a plurality of cardiac valves included in the heart, a valve area including a cardiac valve and a periphery of the cardiac valve for each cardiac valve. The generation part generates a valve image simultaneously representing the plurality of valve areas identified for each cardiac valve on the basis of the three-dimensional image data.
