Disclosed an X-ray composition comprising ioforminol and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient, wherein the composition comprises an iodine concentration of 10-200 mg I/ml and a sodium ion concentration of 70-120 Mm and preferably a calcium ion concentration of 0.5-1.3 mM. Also disclosed is the use of ioforminol in the manufacture of a diagnostic composition for use in a diagnostic method, wherein the method comprises examining a body to which the diagnostic composition and an X-ray radiation dose has been administered, with a diagnostic device and compiling data from the examination; and the composition comprises an iodine concentration of 10-200 mg I/ml and a sodium ion concentration of 70-120 mM. Further disclosed is the use of ioforminol in the manufacture of a diagnostic composition for use in an in vivo imaging detection method, wherein the in vivo imaging detection method comprises administering the composition to a body, applying an X-ray radiation dose to the body, examining the body with a diagnostic device and compiling data from the examination; and the composition comprises an iodine concentration of 10-200 mg I/ml and a sodium ion concentration of 70-120 mM.
