PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To present an index for determining the thickness of a fibrous film from a three-dimensional medical image of a low spatial resolution.
SOLUTION: A vascular lumen area extraction part 14, a lipid core area extraction part 15 and a coronary artery extraction part 16 extract the vascular lumen area and lipid core area of the coronary artery from a three-dimensional X-ray CT image. A cross-section image generation part 17 generates a cross-section image from the three-dimensional X-ray CT image. A vascular lumen closed curve extraction part 18 and a lipid core closed curve extraction part 19 extract the vascular lumen closed curve and lipid core closed curve of the cross-section image. A shortest distance calculation part 110 calculates the shortest distance between each point on the vascular lumen closed curve and each point of the lipid core closed curve, and a film area extraction part 111 extracts a close range wherein the shortest distance is shorter than a threshold. An occupancy calculation part 112 calculates the occupancy of the close range in the vascular lumen area, and a display control part 115 causes the monitor of a display part 12 to display an occupancy graph generated by a graph generation part 113.
