PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oral care composition having a function for compensating a reduced amount of the secretion amount of saliva and suppressing the proliferation of oral bacteria.SOLUTION: There is provided an oral care composition which contains a substance effective for oral hygiene (substance having antibacterial action and bactericidal action) and a substance expressing viscosity (substance having thickening action such as thickener), and whose viscosity can be adjusted by an added amount of water. There is provided an oral care composition in which a stay amount and/or a release amount of a substance effective for oral hygiene in an oral cavity can be adjusted by an added amount of water, and an oral care composition whose viscosity is not changed by an effect of saliva. The substance expressing viscosity has water-retaining effect, and contains xanthan gum.
