PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment apparatus for radioactive waste that treats radioactive waste containing radioactive materials such as cesium and requiring a shielded storage and can obtain radioactive waste more reduced in volume.SOLUTION: A treatment apparatus for radioactive waste comprises: a combustion part that performs combustion of radioactive waste containing cesium in reducing atmosphere adjusted at the combustion temperature of 900°C or more to exhaust combustion products and exhaust gas; and a cooling part that cools the exhaust gas at the cooling temperature of 500°C or less to recover cesium-containing dust from the exhaust gas. The combustion products are recovered as decontamination-treated waste.
