Medical devices and methods of making and using medical devices are disclosed. An example of an electrophysiological medical device includes a catheter shaft that includes a detection assembly having a distal end and three or more terminals. The detection assembly includes one or more energizing electrodes and one or more detection electrodes. One or more energizing electrodes, one or more sensing electrodes, or both comprise mini-electrodes. The mini electrode is placed on one of the other electrodes.
