The present invention relates to methods and pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment of an ocular disease in a subject. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method for treating an ocular disease in a subj ect comprising the steps consisting of i) delivering a pharmaceutical composition formulated with echo contrast agent microbubbles and a therapeutic nucleic acid of interest into the ciliary muscle of the subject and ii) exposing the region where the pharmaceutical composition was delivered to ultrasound to induce transfection of said therapeutic nucleic acid of interest into said ciliary muscle.
