PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blood serum preparation method suitable for the situation where a blood collection site is apart from a serum preparation site, and to provide a method for transporting blood for the preparation of blood serum for a long time.SOLUTION: The invention provides a method for preparing blood serum comprising steps of: mixing whole blood and a red blood cell preservative and causing the blood coagulation reaction in the mixture of the whole blood and the red blood cell preservative obtained in the mixing. The invention provides a blood serum separation instrument including: a blood collection vessel containing the red blood cell preservative and a blood serum storing vessel connected to the blood collection vessel airtightly. The invention provides a method for transporting the whole blood for the preparation of blood serum comprising a step of transporting the mixture of the whole blood collected from a subject and the red blood cell preservative while causing the blood coagulation reaction.
