The invention provides a synthetic peptide consisting of an amino acid sequence having 20-39 amino acid residues in length and having at least 80% amino acid sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 1, wherein the amino acid sequence comprises at least 20 consecutive residues having at least 90% amino acid sequence identity to residues 11-30 of SEQ ID NO: 1. The invention also provides a pharmaceutical composition comprising the synthetic peptide and the use of the synthetic peptide for preventing and/or ameliorating skin aging.
