The endoscope has an endoscope shaft connected with a handgrip. A bendable portion (5) of the shaft comprises a flexible outer hose (11) whose distal end faces a rigid distal end section (4) and a rigid main part and rests upon a support area. A fixing sleeve (23) is connected with the distal end section and overlaps the end of the outer hose in such a manner that the end of the outer hose is clamped between the fixing sleeve and the support area. A fixing region (26) of the fixing sleeve faces a region of the support area. A receiving sleeve is secured at the distal end section of the shaft.
