Disclosed is a peptide of the following sequence: Ala-Val-Phe-Thr-Asp-Asn-Tyr-Thr-Arg-X, wherein X is absent or selected from the group consisting of -Leu-Arg-Lys-Gln, -Leu-Arg- Lys-Gln-Met-Ala-Val-Lys, -Leu-Arg-Lys-Gln-Met-Ala-Val-Lys- Lys-Tyr-Leu-Asn and -Leu-Arg-Lys-Gln-Met-Ala-Val-Lys-Lys-Tyr-Leu-Asn-Ser-Ile-Leu-Asn or conservative substitutions thereof. Also disclosed is the use of a peptide for the manufacture of a medicament for the therapeutic or prophylactic treatment of myocardial fibro s is and/or hypertension in a subject with myocardial fibrosis.
