PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glycosphingolipid aqueous solution or emulsion aqueous solution, wherein glycosphingolipid is stably dissolved, for applying the aqueous solution or emulsion aqueous solution not only to skin but also to gastrointestinal mucosa to improve bioabsorption and generate/increase endogenous ceramide, and as a result, to efficiently exhibit a cutaneous barrier function or a moisture retention (transpiration protection) function and to keep cutaneous moisture.SOLUTION: A glycosphingolipid aqueous solution or emulsion aqueous solution wherein glycosphingolipid is dissolved is formed by adding thereto a fatty acid and/or a salt thereof in an amount of 0.1-20 times the volume of the glycosphingolipid. A surfactant is added furthermore to the glycosphingolipid aqueous solution or emulsion aqueous solution.【課題】 スフィンゴ糖脂質について、それを安定に溶解する水溶液或いは乳化水溶液とし、かかる水溶液或いは乳化水溶液を皮膚のみならず消化管粘膜に適用することにより、生体内吸収性を良好ならしめ、内因性セラミドを生成・増加させ、その結果、効率よく皮膚のバリア機能、或いは水分保持（水分蒸散防御）機能を発揮させ、皮膚の保湿を確保する、スフィンゴ糖脂質水溶液若しくは乳化水溶液を提供すること。【解決手段】 スフィンゴ糖脂質を溶解した水溶液若しくは乳化水溶液であって、スフィンゴ糖脂質に対して０．１～２０倍量の脂肪酸および／またはその塩を添加してなることを特徴とする、前記スフィンゴ糖脂質水溶液若しくは乳化水溶液であり、さらに界面活性剤を添加してなるスフィンゴ糖脂質水溶液若しくは乳化水溶液である。【選択図】 なし
