PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for measuring information about growing states and growing environment of crops are provided to increase accuracy and convenience in measuring the information.CONSTITUTION: A crop observation apparatus(100) comprises a crop growth state measuring part(110), a growth environment measuring part(120), and a transferring part(130). The crop growth state measuring part measures a growth state of a crop and obtains growth state information. The growth environment measuring part measures growing environment of a measuring zone to obtain growth environment information, measures an amount of light in the measuring zone, and determines a light permeated state of the measuring zone based on the measured amount of light and a time for measuring the amount of light. The transferring part transfers the measured growth state information and growth environment information of the crop and transfers information about a location where the growth state information and growth environment information are obtained. The crop observation apparatus observes the crop located at a predetermined location while moving within the measuring zone. The crop growth state measuring part comprises an image taking part(111) and an image taking location controlling part(113) that controls a location of the image taking part according to a size of the crop.
