PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biometric authentication system enabling a temporary user to smoothly use an automobile while securing advanced security.
SOLUTION: When valet key setting control is started, a biometric authentication ECU 14 displays a screen for selecting the use/non-use of the valet key 9 on a display 8 in a step S11. Next, the biometric authentication ECU 14 determines whether the use of the valet key 9 is selected in a step S12 or not. When the determination is Yes, the biometric authentication ECU 14 displays a set screen for a permission condition (travel permission distance and operation permission period) on the display 8 in a step S13, and determines whether an input for the permission condition is performed in a step S14 or not. A registered driver inputs a permission condition according to a state that the automobile V is charged. When the determination in a step S14 is Yes, the biometric authentication ECU 14 permits the use of the valet key 9 in a step S15, and releases an electric lid 13 in a step S16.
