PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which has a high liquid absorption speed, is excellent in spot absorbabilty, and has a small liquid returning amount.
SOLUTION: The absorbent article 1 by this invention includes a cellulose-based hydrophilic fiber which contains one or more kinds of surfactants selected from a group consisting of a sugar alkyl ether and a sugar fatty acid ester at a site other than the part 20 to be in contact with the skin. As a site other than the part 20 to be in contact with the skin, an absorber 4 or a second sheet 5 can be cited. The cellulose-based hydrophilic fiber may be contained in a fiber mass 42 constituting the absorber 4 or a coating sheet 44.
