The invention relates to a beverage based on integral whey and to a process for preparing the same. The claimed beverage comprises 79...92% filtered whey, 3...10% fructose, 0.05...0.15% stabilizer, 0.08...0.35% pectin, 5...10% fruit concentrate, 0.04...0.12% natural fruit aroma and 0.03...0.8% natural dyestuffs. The claimed process consists in hydrating the pectin or the xanthan in admixture with the fructose in filtered whey, while continuously stirring for 20...30 min, after which, onto a mixture of fruit concentrate, there are added flavour and natural dyestuff, the mixture is treated with citric acid or lactic acid solution for correcting the pH up to 3.8, the final product is homogenized at a pressure of 50...100 bar and the temperature of 30...60°C for 3...5 min, after which it is bottled.
